Off The Record Comes Back for the 0.4

Will Coleman and Off The Record lost last year's Final by four tenths of a penalty. They return to Morven Park as favorites.

Last year came down to one rail. Will Coleman & Off The Record scored 25.1 in the dressage, the lowest mark in the history of the Morven Park CCI4*-L. They made the time cross-country, one of only three combinations to do it, and led into the final day.

Then a rail at B of the triple combination. Four faults, 29.1, second. Boyd Martin & Miks Master C won on 28.7, by 0.4 of a penalty.

Off The Record is back this week. The EquiRatings Prediction Centre makes him favorite for the Final, with a 27% win chance, 55% to finish in the top three and 81% to finish in the top 10. The next best win chance is Luke 140 (Boyd Martin) on 18%.

The best horse in the field

Off The Record has an Elo of 793, 113 points clear of Luke 140 on 680. Elo is the EquiRatings overall performance rating. He is the No.1 US horse and the second-highest rated US horse ever, behind only Mai Baum.

He ranks first in the field on XCJ10 Adj (+31%), TSP (96%) and OBP (86%), and his expected cross-country clear chance of 80% is also the best. He clears cross-country on the days others do not, he is fast, and he beats most of the horses he meets.

At 17 he is still producing. In May he was second in the CCI4*-S at Tryon on 30.3. His last run was the CCI3*-S at Tryon in September, where he finished fourth on 38.5.

The missing long-format win

Off The Record has won seven international events. All seven were short format, including the Aachen CCI4*-S in 2021, where he became the first US combination to win it, and the Kentucky CCI4*-S in April 2025.

In the long format he has been close without winning. Third at Tattersalls in 2019. Seventh at the World Championships at Pratoni in 2022, with an HPR of 102. Second here last year.

Coleman at Morven Park

Coleman arrives on a strong year. He took his first 5* win on Diabolo in April, and followed it up with fourth at the World Championships behind the very best: fischerChipmunk FRH, Lordships Graffalo, and London 52. He then went on to finish seventh at Burghley on Very Dignified and finish third in the Series.

He is 3/3 clear across country in the Morven CCI4*-L and 2/3 inside the time, the best inside-time record in this field. Last year he made the time on both his rides, Off The Record and Very Dignified, the first rider to do it twice in one day at Morven Park's CCI4*-L. He finished second and third.

One rail decided last year. The numbers make him the one to beat this year.
