The US Equestrian Open of Eventing is a season-long Series of 20 CCI4*-S qualifiers across the United States, ending in a $200,000 CCI4*-L Final at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia.
Riders earn points at each qualifier. The rider with the most points at the end of the season wins the Series, and any rider who completes a qualifier with an MER can enter the Final. The 2027 Final runs October 7-10.
How the Series Works
At each qualifier, riders earn points based on their final placing. The size of the field sets the scale: qualifiers with more than 25 starters pay points to the top 10, and smaller fields pay the top eight. Points only count when the rider also achieves an MER (Minimum Eligibility Requirement).
The Series winner is the rider with the most points once all 20 qualifiers are complete, counting no more than their six best results. A tie goes to the rider with the lowest overall score, then to the cross-country time closest to optimum.
Reaching the Final
The Final is a $200,000 CCI4*-L at Morven Park International & Fall Horse Trials in Leesburg, Virginia, held each October. There are two ways in:
Route 1 Complete a qualifier Finish at least one Series qualifier with an MER, on the horse you will ride in the Final. | Route 2 Buy in for $5,000 The buy-in fee is added to the Final prize pot. |
Each rider can bring up to three horses. A waiting list opens after 80 entries, with priority to riders who qualified through the Series. In the Final's dressage phase, the Series leader rides last.
The Qualifiers
The 2026-27 Series opens before the winter break, with two qualifiers in the fall. The rest of the calendar will be confirmed.
